2007 National Gold Award Date: 12/11/2007 11:21:52 AM It is with tremendous pride that Pat Battie and Peter Richmond of the 49th Parallel Grocery and Kelly Greville of Pepsi/QTG accepted the National Gold Award from the Canadian Federation of Independent Grocers in Toronto on October 30th. This is the highest honour in the grocery business across the country, awarded for the interaction between the store, suppliers, and the community. Everyone involved in our Guinness World Record Hockey Day hosted June 3, 2007 can be proud !! "This event could not have taken place without the committment of the entire town", says Pat Battie of the 49th, "What a great way to celebrate our 30 year anniversary!". From the Mayor, to our committee board, to all the local groups and 250 volunteers that helped, we sincerely THANK YOU! Together we hosted 192 teams and 2010 players, with another 2000 spectators to set a world record. Best of all we raised $10,000. towards Ladysmith youth sports field development. "Cheers"
